Bloom Direct continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of foster families by providing foster children with high-quality clothing and essentials delivered directly to their doorstep. This program ensures that foster youth and families, especially those in underserved areas, receive the necessary essentials without the added burden of travel.
As part of our pilot program, Bloom Direct boxes are initially only being shipped to children in DFCS Region 9, a community with limited access to resources. Bloom has recently developed an online submission form to streamline the process, making it even quicker for Region 9 DFCS caseworkers and foster families to request a Bloom Direct box. The hope is that Bloom Direct will become a routine part of the onboarding process when a child first enters foster care, and this new online system helps to ensure that Bloom Direct boxes reach children within the first 48 hours of placement.
When children enter emergency foster care, foster parents often have little time to prepare. That’s where Bloom steps in—easing the burden by ensuring each child receives a carefully curated box of clothing and essentials. These hand-selected items provide not only immediate necessities but also comfort, stability, and a sense of belonging during a challenging time.
This program is already transforming lives. Recently, a foster mother, who is a full-time nurse, welcomed a four-year-old girl into her home. The little girl loved to draw, but with limited access to stores in the area and a demanding schedule the foster mother struggled to gather necessary supplies she needed. Bloom quickly responded, delivering a personalized box filled with clothing, school supplies, books, toiletries, and even an art set. As each box is packed with thoughtful intention, bloom staff carefully selected clothing that aligned with the little girl’s style and in her favorite color, pink.
Upon receiving the package, the foster mom shared how deeply touched they were, saying that the delivery “made their day brighter, lifted her burden, and they were overwhelmed by generosity.”
By removing barriers and providing essential resources delivered to their doorstep, Bloom empowers foster families to focus on what matters most: offering love and stability to children in need.
