From Fashion to Philanthropy: How Lizard Thicket’s CEO is Championing Children Through Golf

For Sheri Waynick, CEO of Lizard Thicket, giving back isn’t just a company value—it’s been part of the brand’s mission since re-opening in 2006. From the beginning, Sheri has used her fashion-forward platform to create meaningful impact in the community. One of those initiatives is the annual L’Tee It Up Golf Tournament, which brings purpose, generosity, and a little friendly competition to the green. This year’s event takes place on Monday, October 13, at 10 a.m. at Braelinn Golf Course in Peachtree City.

We recently caught up with Sheri to learn more about the heart behind the event and why Bloom was chosen as this year’s beneficiary.

Q: What motivated you to start the L’Tee It Up Golf Tournament?

Sheri: Our first tournament was five years ago to benefit Hearts 2 Honduras. My daughter and another franchise owner had been doing mission work there, and we wanted to support their efforts. None of us at the corporate office played golf, but we thought a tournament would be a fun way to raise money! The first couple of years had their hiccups, but we’ve really gotten it down to a science.

Q: How has the tournament evolved since that first year?

Sheri: Each year has been consistent in terms of fundraising, but we’ve added new elements to keep it exciting for players—whether it’s contests, prizes, or food. This year, we’re hoping to bring in even more golfers so we can make a bigger impact for Bloom.

Q: What does this event mean to you personally?

Sheri: I just love raising money for worthy organizations. It brings people together for a cause, and I know firsthand how hard fundraising can be. Last year, we decided we wanted to rotate beneficiaries to spread support, and Bloom immediately came to mind.

Q: What inspired you to choose Bloom this year?

Sheri: I’ve followed Bloom for years through a former Lizard Thicket franchisee who adopted three children through their organization. I’ve seen the impact Bloom makes and the lives they change, and it’s something I deeply admire.

Q: Why is giving back such an important part of Lizard Thicket’s business values?

Sheri: I truly believe everything we receive in business is a blessing from God. With that comes the responsibility to give back—whether through awareness or financial support. Businesses have a platform, and it should be used to lift up communities and support those in need.

“We are incredibly grateful to Sheri and Lizard Thicket for their continued generosity and heart for children in foster care,” said Becky Davenport, CEO of Bloom. “Their support makes it possible for us to continue providing essential resources and wraparound care to the children who need it most.”
