October 9 is National DAF Day, a time to celebrate the impact of Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) and to ensure your charitable giving is set up exactly the way you intend. If you have a DAF—through Fidelity Charitable Giving, Schwab Charitable, or another provider—you already know how easy it is to simplify your giving and make a lasting impact. But did you know that you must name a beneficiary for your DAF?

If no beneficiary is listed, the remaining funds are typically transferred to the sponsoring institution (often a bank or investment firm) upon the account holder’s passing. By designating a nonprofit organization, such as Bloom, or a family member as your beneficiary, you can ensure that your charitable legacy continues to reflect your values and generosity.

Now is a great time to log in to your DAF account and double-check your beneficiary designation.

If you have any questions about how to include Bloom as a beneficiary—or want to learn more about DAF giving—please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can email me, Katie Weaver, at k.weaver@bloomfosters.org or visit https://bloomfosters.org/donate/donor-advised-funds/.
