While summer has just begun for most students, Bloom is already preparing to help foster children across Georgia start the new school year with confidence.
On Wednesday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Bloom will host a School Supply Drive-A-Thon — a convenient, drive-thru donation event supporting children and families involved in foster care. Community members are invited to simply drive through and drop off new school supplies, backpacks, and other essential items that will directly support local foster children as they head back to the classroom this fall.
“Every child deserves to walk into their classroom feeling prepared, confident, and like they belong,” said Becky Davenport, CEO of Bloom. “For children in foster care, something as simple as a new backpack or school supplies can serve as a reminder that their community sees them, supports them, and believes in them.”
With more than 11,000 children currently in Georgia’s foster care system, the need for support continues to grow. Donations collected during the School Supply Drive-A-Thon will help stock Bloom’s resource centers and provide foster families with the supplies children need to start the school year prepared and encouraged.
