1986 – The Year Bloom Was Established

What this means: Since its establishment in 1986, Bloom has stood as a beacon of empowerment, providing vital resources to numerous children, birth families, and foster parents, creating a profound and lasting impact in the lives of foster children.

175 – Calls received monthly by Bloom from DFCS for potential placements

What this means: Every month, we field numerous calls from the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) for potential foster care placements. These calls represent the urgent need for safe and nurturing homes for children who are facing difficult circumstances. Your support helps us respond promptly to these calls and ensure that every child in need finds a loving foster family.  Join us in answering these calls by considering becoming a foster parent or donating to support our placement efforts. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

This statistic showcases the transformative impact that stability and support can have on a child’s educational journey, setting them up for success in school and beyond. Support our educational programs and initiatives to empower more foster children to succeed academically. Your donation can provide tutoring, school supplies, and educational resources to children in need.

88% — The percentage of Bloom’s foster families who chose to continue fostering children over the last 12 months.

This statistic speaks volumes about the dedication and passion of our foster parents, who play a vital role in providing love, stability, and support to vulnerable children. Consider joining our community of foster parents or supporting our foster care initiatives through donations. Your support ensures that more children have access to safe and loving homes.

97% — The percentage of foster children who reported increased self-worth after receiving items from Bloom.

What this means: Simple gestures can have a profound impact. Whether it’s receiving a new set of clothes, a backpack filled with school supplies, or a comforting toy in the Bloom Closet, 97% of foster children report feeling a boost in their self-worth after receiving items from Bloom. These gifts not only meet practical needs but also send a powerful message of care and value, instilling confidence and hope in each child we serve. Help us continue to uplift and empower foster children by donating to provide essential items and support programs. Your contribution can make a difference in a child’s life today.

There is still much more that we can do

11,000+ children are currently in the foster system in Georgia, and 2,500+ are in at-risk situations where they may need intervention soon.

For most of these children, adoption is not an option, so foster care is
essential. When private agencies such as Bloom are included in a state’s child protection and foster care, children tend to experience more positive outcomes.

Right now, there aren’t enough licensed foster homes to care for them all. We want to change that.

Our Vision: To make sure every child in Georgia has a safe, nurturing family

Currently, Bloom serves more than 6,800 foster children and their families throughout Georgia.
